You will find that both pursuits are well served at The Newark Museum of Art, where a professional staff will help you create an unforgettable event set against a backdrop of timeless art and history.

The Museum offers a variety of spaces for entertaining, including the elegant Engelhard Court, the lush Victorian Ballantine House, the beautiful Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden, and the modernist Billy Johnson Auditorium.

Whether it is a private wedding or other celebration, corporate entertaining or a conference, The Museum will make your event one to remember.

Event Spaces

Engelhard Court

For ceremonies or company celebrations, consider the stately Engelhard Court. This spacious environment of Beax-Arts design, punctuated by marble floors, art installations and natural light, is an excellent choice for dinner and dancing. The Court also offers access to the Museum’s galleries, which can be toured by your guests before and during your event.

  • Reception: 250-300 guests
  • Seated Dinner: 220 guests

Welcome Center

The Welcome Center features a brilliant wall to wall overhead Mural by acclaimed artist Odili Donald Odita, and is the gateway to the Museum. With natural light and refined character, this intermediate space can be rented separately for corporate or private events or paired with the Court to increase capacity with a lounge and bar.

Reception: 50-75 guests
Seated Dinner: 50 guests

Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden

The Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden is a beautiful courtyard sculpture garden, well suited for outdoor affairs from small cocktail receptions to large tented events. A gentle path snakes around the perimeter articulating intimate spaces for special moments. This surplus of outdoor space is certain to set the stage for a once in a lifetime event.

Seated Dinner: 200 guests

Billy Johnson Auditorium

The Billy Johnson Auditorium, is a unique and intimate space which seats 272 people comfortably. The auditorium is perfect for screenings and ideal for off-site employee and sales meetings. Featuring state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities and an adjacent green room.

A 50% deposit is required to hold a date.

We are happy to arrange to have Museum galleries open during your event. Wedding packages include access to one Museum gallery during cocktail hour.

Yes, the Museum is able to provide a limited number of tables and chairs. Additional equipment is rented through the caterer.

You are welcome to use your own vendors given they are able to provide proof of liability insurance and abide by the Museum’s rules. No vendor may consume alcohol while on Museum premises.

The Museum has an approved list of caterers that you may choose from.

  • Open flames, including small votives are not permitted at the Museum.
  • No live plants are permitted indoors.
  • All floral arrangements must be delivered to the Museum completed; workspace is not available for florists.
  • Due to fire regulations, silk flowers and helium balloons are not permitted.
  • Existing Museum signage cannot be removed and items may not be attached in any way to fixtures, furnishings, walls, doors or collections.
  • All signage and decorations must be free-standing.
