Newark Students 'Bottle Cap van Gogh' Has Its Museum Debut Thanks to the creativity of students at South Street Elementary School in Newark, the Newark Museum will be displaying its own eco-friendly rendition of Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night. The 8 by 12 foot mural will be on view April 13 – June 23, 201.

Newark Museum Showcases Its Greatest Chinese Treasures
In Ming to Modern: Elevating the Everyday in Chinese Art The Newark Museum will mark its 90th anniversary of exhibiting Chinese art with an exhibition that spotlights many of the hidden treasures of its 8,000-piece Chinese art collection. Ming to Modern: Elevating the Everyday in Chinese Art opens September 18, 2013 and runs through February 9, 2014.

12 Re-Elected to Newark Museum Board; Five 25-Year Members Named Fellows Five members who have maintained membership in the Newark Museum for 25 continuous years have been acknowledged as Membership Fellows -- the 104-year-old cultural institution’s most exclusive designation. The five Membership Fellows were acknowledged along with 12 newly re-elected members of the Museum Board of Trustees at the Museum’s annual meeting on February 19, 2013.

Black History Month Performance Pays Homage to Abolitionist David Walker A play about abolitionist David Walker, co-presented in honor of Black History Month by the Newark Museum and NJPAC’s Arts Education Department, will be read Saturday, February 23 from 2-5 pm at the Museum. African Cosmos: Stellar Art African Cosmos: Stellar Arts, the first major exhibition that focuses on the historical legacy of African cultural astronomy and its intersection with traditional and contemporary African arts, will open at the Newark Museum on February 27 and run through August 11, 2013. This is the only appearance in the New York-New Jersey Metropolitan area for the exhibition, which was organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art and had a highly-acclaimed six-month run there.

Special Newark Museum Exhibit Compliments Assisi Gathering A selection of 21 sculptures from the Newark Museum's Asian collection form the exhibition Loving Devotion: Visions of Vishnu from the Newark Museum, which will be on display as part of the Fetzer Institute's Global Gathering on September 19-23, 2012, in Assisi, Italy. It will be the exhibition’s sole venue. Bringing together 500 thought leaders from around the world, the Global Gathering will show the power love and forgiveness can have in the world.
