The Dreyfuss Planetarium's outstanding learning environment enables audiences to take a field trip to the edge of the Universe. Instructors lead stimulating discussions and activities on topics geared to each group. The Planetarium presents a stellar look at the Universe thanks to its space-age Zeiss ZKP3 star projector. The Dreyfuss Planetarium offers an otherworldly experience that is further enhanced by a Sky-Skan automation system and digital audiovisual capability. SKYLAB - Bringing the stars down to Earth and into your school!
The Newark Museum is proud to introduce a new state-of-the-art portable digital planetarium featuring a high–definition projection system. It includes a color 3D star database beaming more than 100,000 stars. Up to four classes per day can spend 45 minutes each guided by a Museum astronomer.
Programs range from Pre-K through college level covering basic astronomy, the planets, the Moon, stars, and galaxies – all aligned with NJCCC Standards. Click here for SKYLAB programs.

Program Descriptions Click here for Planetarium Programs at the Museum All planetarium programs are approximately one hour long, including an exciting star show and audience participation.
Reservations Advance registration is required for all programs! Please choose a program at least one month in advance (note the planetarium is very popular; make sure you schedule your visit early!) and contact the Newark Museum Education Office for a reservation at 973-596-6690 or schoolgroupreservations@newarkmuseum.org.
Program size The Planetarium seats a maximum of 50. The total number of kids, adults, chaperones, bus drivers, etc. may not exceed 50 or the number of seats stated on your confirmation. Larger groups can be split. Minimum group size is 10 students. Barrier free seating available.
Program Times Because of tight scheduling our programs must begin on time, so please plan accordingly! Times available: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 9:30 am, 11 am, and 12:30 pm. (Summer schedule: 10 am, 11 am, and 12 pm). Programs are also available at 11 am on Saturday and Sunday mornings (call 973-596-6690). All groups must have reservations.
Groups should plan toarrive thirty minutes before their scheduled appointment to check in lunches, coats, and to allow students to use the rest rooms. If your bus arrives late your lesson will be shortened or even cancelled accordingly.
A cancellation fee of $100 will be charged to groups who cancel or reduce their group size by ten or more within two weeks of the program. Cancellations less than one week in advance will result in an additional charge of $150. Please call 973-596-6690 as soon as possible if you need to cancel, reschedule, or revise your appointment.
