Museum Friends indulge their passion for a particular collection while providing support for the collection. There are four specific groups: Friends of African Art, Friends of American Art, Friends of Asian Art and Friends of the Decorative Arts.
Friends enjoy special programs and exclusive opportunities, such as access to private collections, special curator-led outings and lectures, and hands-on workshops. Each group schedules four events annually.
At the end of the season, Friends have the opportunity to vote on how they would like their dues to support the collection, from choices presented by the curators at an annual meeting.
Newark Museum members at the Sustaining and Benefactor levels can join any of our Friends groups for an additional annual fee. (These annual Friends dues are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.)
Benefactor level members also can sample Friends at no additional cost. As a benefit of their membership, Benefactors are invited to one Friends event per year.
Fellow level members receive a complimentary membership in one Friends group.
Founder’s Society members have access to the activities of all four Friends groups.
Please note: Friends events will occasionally involve a fee for transportation and/or meals, if incurred on the outing.
If you have questions or would like more specific information about any Friends group, please call Diana Bella at 973.596.6337 or e-mail to dbella@newarkmuseum.org.
