Hear stories about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and design a memorial with his message of hope, equality, social justice, peaceful resistance and freedom in mind. Visitors also enjoy hands-on workshops that connect to our contemporary African collection, science workshops, gallery games and tours, Civil Rights Bingo, films of Dr. King’s famous speech I Have a Dream and more.
Performance 1 & 4 pm—The Sword That Heals "Letter from Birmingham Jail" (1963) by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be presented in a dramatic performance by guest artist, Gary Edison with vocalist Nadra.
Stories Hear stories about the life and legacy of Dr. King with actress Anastasia Vincent.
Design a Memorial Design a memorial to the great Civil Rights leader, keeping in mind his message of hope, equality, social justice, peaceful resistance and freedom.
Film Screening Excerpts from the award-winning documentary, Eyes on the Prize: America's Civil Rights Years 1954-1964.
Hands-On Workshops and More... Connect to our contemporary African collection, take part in science workshops, gallery games and tours, and play Civil Rights Bingo.
