Life Long Arts: Collage Making with Mansa Mussa
An art course on Collage will be offered for adults age 55 and over as part of our Artful Aging initiative. The course will integrate the Newark Museum collections, engage participants in skill-based learning and promote meaningful social engagement. The Collage course will be one 2.5 hour session per week for eight weeks. At the end of the course there will be an opportunity to invite friends and family to a culminating exhibition and celebration.
Participants will learn to utilize a range of dry and wet adhesives as well as digital cameras and scanners to construct traditional cut and paste, mixed-media, decoupage, photo-montage and 3D collages. They will employ photographs, fabric, leather, decorative and graphic arts paper and three-dimensional objects as their materials. The workshops in this series will focus on creating a series of collages of varying in sizes from 8.5 X 11 inches to 11x17 inches on paper and acid free chipboard.
