Gifts to the Museum
Gifts in Honor or Memory
Tribute and memorial gifts in honor of friends and family are an especially meaningful way to celebrate special occasions and remember loved ones while supporting the Newark Museum’s renowned collections, exhibitions, and educational programming. Contributions can be made in support of specific programs or departments upon your request.
To give a gift in memorial or tribute, please contact Joanna C. Broughton at 973.596.6626 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may also send your gift to:
49 Washington Street
Newark, New Jersey 07102
Please include the name and address of the honored individual or family, and we will notify them of your thoughtful and considerate gesture.
All inquiries are confidential and without obligation.
Gifts of Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities, such as stocks and mutual funds, are excellent ways to support the Newark Museum. Such gifts are simple and may provide a greater tax benefit than an equivalent gift in cash.
A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to an income tax charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the donated asset. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid any capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Gifts of Art
In addition to outright gifts, the Newark Museum welcomes bequests and promised gifts of art. The Museum must give very careful consideration to such gifts before it will accept them.
If you are considering donating a work of art to the Museum, you should first contact a curator in the appropriate curatorial department to talk about your proposed gift. The Museum has curatorial departments devoted to the Global Arts of Africa, American Art, the Arts of Asia and Decorative Arts.
Please contact Joanna C. Broughton at 973.596.6626 or email@example.com, for curatorial department contact information.
