Special Professional Development Opportunity for Middle/High School Teachers
If you are a middle/high school teacher in New Jersey and a recipient of the teaching portfolio, “Picturing America,” distributed by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) in 2009-2010, you are eligible to apply to participate in a special conference during the 2011-2012 school year. With support from the NEH, the Newark Museum will present two conferences for 50 New Jersey teachers each. The conferences will focus on effective ways to use the American art included in the “Picturing America” portfolio to teach American history and culture. The conferences will direct special attention to the era known as the Great Transformation in America – from the Gilded Age (1870s) through to World War II.
