Camp Junior Museum 2011 draws inspiration from cultures in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Join us every Friday afternoon to see campers perform at the Variety Show and that week’s artwork on display.
Campers are divided according to age: 3 & 4 year olds, 5 & 6 year olds, 7 & 8 year olds, 9 & 10 year olds, 11-13 year olds, and teens. Each age group participates in at least four classes per day—two before lunch and two following lunch.
Enrollment is limited to 20 children per group to ensure campers receive lots of personal attention. All Camp Junior Museum activities are age-appropriate.
Hands-on classes take place in cozy, child-friendly art studios, well-equipped science labs and spacious program halls and galleries. Performance and movement classes will take place in our newly renovated auditorium. All campers also enjoy dance and theatre performances, concerts, films, and planetarium shows in the Museum’s acclaimed Dreyfuss Planetarium, as well as outdoor activities in the Museum’s sculpture garden (weather permitting).
Camp Junior Museum classes are taught by professional artists and educators that come from a variety of cultural and professional backgrounds. Our assistant teachers are graduate-level education students from Montclair State University. This is our second year of the partnership with the Urban Teaching Residency program at MSU.

My child received great exposure to the arts and sciences that he would not have had at most other camps. -Little Falls

I would like to thank the Junior Museum and its staff for allowing my daughter to have the experience of a lifetime! -Newark
It was our first summer camp experience—fun and educational at the same time. We are new to the Newark Museum and found it to be a wonderful resource and will be sure to tell our school and friends about it, and plan to visit over the school year. What a treasure in NJ! Thank you for such a positive experience. -Weehawken
